More Health Department Employees Now Pest Certified
Â
Randy Nickeson and Jon Ruff of the Douglas County Health Department recently became licensed in Public Health Pest Management.
Â
Â
The two are Registered Environmental Health Specialists, and attended the recent Nebraska Urban Pest Management Conference in Lincoln, offered by the University of Nebraska – Lincoln Extension and the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Â
Â
Nickeson and Ruff are Licensed Pesticide Applicators after their two days of testing and training. That means they can use any agent needed to treat potential infestations for insects and rodents, including the poisons used to kill rats on the exteriors of buildings and the applications of larvicide to proactively reduce mosquito populations to minimize the risk of West Nile Virus.
